Dear Supervisor (xxx),

I am a resident of Fairfax County who is concerned by plans of the County Department of Planning & Zoning to increase the population density limit in the Reston Planned Residential Community (PRC) District. I ask the Board of Supervisors to stop all actions by County Planning and Zoning to change zoning density in the Reston PRC in order to permit more time for meaningful participation by our community.

I think that proposed changes to the Reston Master Plan put forward by Coalition for a Planned Reston will enable sensible, balanced Continue reading “Suggested language for emails”

Community Update from CPR

Representatives of the Coalition for a Planned Reston (CPR) and the Reston Association (RA) met on Tuesday, February 13, with Supervisor Hudgins and Fairfax County government staffers to review CPR’s proposed amendments of the Reston Master Plan. Our proposal would eliminate the perceived need to raise Reston’s zoning density from 13 to 16 persons per acre. After our meeting, however, the County agreed only to delay by one month their meeting schedule for changing zoning density.

CPR believes a temporary delay does not provide adequate opportunity for the community’s recommendations to be considered. While the County Continue reading “Community Update from CPR”

Representatives from the Coalition for a Planned Reston (CPR) and Reston Association (RA) met with Supervisor Hudgins and representatives of the Fairfax County Planning & Zoning and Transportation Departments on 24 January 2018 to discuss the county zoning amendment that would increase the density cap from 13 to 16 persons per acre in the Planned Residential Community (PRC).

  • CPR representatives proposed specific amendments to the Reston Master Plan, including the removal of an unexplained road bisecting a portion of the Hidden Creek Country Club golf course.

Our proposals:

  • Postpone Fairfax County’s review of the zoning amendment until the county can hold additional meetings with the public.
  • Improve the Reston Master Plan so as to eliminate the county’s perceived need to increase the density cap.

Where we are now:

Supervisor Hudgins appeared open to further discussions BUT the Fairfax County Zoning administrator, Leslie Johnson, is reluctant to slow down the process Continue reading “Community call to action”
