Thank you, Reston!

To all the wonderful Restonians and other neighbors in our broader Fairfax community, we want to extend our deepest appreciation for your support over the past two years against the proposed zoning amendment that would have increased the density cap in our Planned Residential Community (PRC) area.  Your many letters and phone calls to members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission, your participation in the community meetings held in Reston, including the pivotal October 2017 public meeting at South Lakes High School, Continue reading “Thank you, Reston!”

PRC zoning amendment hearing CANCELLED

At today’s Board of Supervisors meeting, Hunter Mill District Supervisor Cathy Hudgins moved that the BOS defer indefinitely consideration of the proposed zoning amendment for the Reston PRC plan regulations. The Board concurred.

Now that the PRC zoning amendment has been deferred indefinitely, there is no longer a meeting to attend tonight. The BOS will be considering other issues, but Reston’s PRC zoning is no longer among them.

We will continue to keep all of you informed on the latest developments on the PRC.

Thank you again for your support for our planned community!

Breaking news on the Reston PRC zoning amendment!

It has just been confirmed that Supervisor Hudgins will be bringing forward a motion to “Indefinitely Defer” the proposed Reston PRC Zoning Amendment that was scheduled for public hearing tomorrow March 5, 2019.

If this motion is made and passed, the Amendment essentially will be killed, but we cannot be sure at this time.

This motion is expected to occur during the Board Matters portion of the meeting, usually late morning. All meetings are televised on Channel 16streamed live online and available to view on demand following the meeting.

CPR will communicate with the community about the final status of the zoning amendment as soon as the Board of Supervisors votes on the motion to defer.

If things go as we hope, the community can cancel their plans to attend the Public Hearing.

Stay tuned, and thank you!

Be there when the Board votes on the Reston PRC cap!

On March 5, the Board of Supervisors will vote on the zoning amendment to increase the density cap in the Reston residential areas.

1. Let them know you oppose the density increase and urge them to adopt the recommendations of the Planning Commission.

2. Plan to attend the Board of Supervisors hearing. Based on the current agenda it still  looks like our issue will come up no sooner than 5:30pm.
yellow balloon(Yellow shirts will be available for sale for $10 in the parking lot; we’ll have a yellow smiley balloon by a light pole to help you spot the place!)

3. IMPORTANT:  If the timing of the density issue on the public hearing agenda changes, CPR will send out an email alert. It is imperative that we have many folks in the audience to convey our message.

4. If you have not done so already, please write to the Board of Supervisors ( Tell them you oppose the density increase for the Reston Planned Residential Community (PRC), and support a review of the Reston Master Plan for the Village Centers and Reston Town Center North.

Letting the Supervisors know the opinions of the Reston community is critical, and your willingness to participate in the process is vital for this final vote!

Thank you!
